About me

What started as a side gig tutoring college writing—something easy to fit around my classes—turned out to be the formative experience in my journey to becoming an editor. After working with writers to perfect their essays, theses and other collegiate writing, I was eager to duplicate those experiences.. but with the books I love to read.

Post-college, I dove into the world of editorial and market research, working with some pretty amazing brands like Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Living, and Allrecipes, just to name a few. It’s been a great journey, where I’ve gotten to flex my editing skills, dive into research projects, and collaborate with creative teams to make content shine. Whether it's helping to craft the perfect recipe roundup or diving deep into the latest home trends, I love being part of the process that brings great content to life!

During the COVID lockdown, like many others, I turned to books as a major source of entertainment and comfort. I even started a Bookstagram account @onmylistwithsierra to share my love of reading and connect with other book lovers. Through that community, I built relationships with a few indie authors, which eventually led me to start working as a freelance editor. Working with indie authors has been incredibly rewarding—helping them fine-tune their manuscripts, enhance their storytelling, and bring their unique voices to life is a real passion of mine. The creative freedom and personal connection in these projects make every step of the editing process a true joy.

As a big fan of romance and fantasy, I spend a lot of my free time immersed in worlds of adventure, love, and magic. I live at home with my bruiser of a Rottweiler mix, Bam (who is, of course, named after Jungkook’s dog from BTS), my cat Draco, and my daughter, who’s basically a full-time graphic novel connoisseur. Between my love for books, spending time with my family, and editing, I’m always surrounded by stories—whether it's the ones I’m working on or the ones we’re reading together. Life is never dull, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

“Every time someone asks me to recommend a good editor, I always have to say I have the most amazing one! Sierra is incredibly professional and knowledgeable, communicating in an efficient, compassionate and direct manner. I always feel like my work and words are safe with her. Somehow she manages to elevate my story without losing the heart of it. I am so grateful for her!”
